DIY coilovers
Well I know, good shocks = good handling and it's one of the most important parts.
But I don't have a 50€ figure tree in my backyard and I cannot afford a set of Koni units or something like this. In addition second hand stuff
is really hard to find around here.
I searched for bike shocks which can do the job perfectly (with a rocker to lower the whell rate) but I found that even in a scrap yard it's
bloody expensive.
Did one of you use this solution? How is it worth? What kind of car's shocks can be used?

I seem to remember a thread on converting Mini shock absorbers to coil overs on Locost Builders North America about a year ago.I think it is a Yahoo

Bike Shocks
Try the USA eBay site. You should find them for $10 each plus shipping. I have two going spare that I can get rid of

Just bought two rear shocks from a heavy bike (Honda 750....i think) for ...5$ on ebay US.
Had a friend shipped them to Belgium for 25 $.
Total cost for two shocks in good condition (chrome!) 30$!!!
Bike scrappy overhere wanted equivalent of 130$ for a pair of shocks....idiot

i used mini shockers see my photos named more wishbones for a look hope this is of some help

The bike shocks is the good solution, but it will be hard to find 4 times (or at least 2x2) the same unit...
Shocks from a Mini or other with same layout is a backup, it should be possible to measure the spring rate on the original car and match it to the
equivalent shock rate to choose the spring stiffness, then use the right rocker lenght to have the good wheel rate. A lot of job for little money and
not too bad result..

When there will be 4 shocks in your garage I could send you the money to ship it to me in Belgium?

It's not absolutely necessary to use coil overs on the rear of a live axle or DeDion car, you can get by with a conventional spring and shock
absorber with the addition of spring seats and extra brackets for the shock, might save a bit of work if your not concerned about missing out on the
adjustability of coil overs
