Space problem
Hi everybody,
Made a calculation mistake, and always found myself thinking "I'll find a solution one day" , and well, that one day has arrived.
Welded the front wishbone bracket to close to the vertical FU1 and FU2, so there's no space to place the nut and leave some visible threads.

Any ideas how to solve this?
Is it possible to use some bolt&pin?
My last chance would be to drill the FU and weld a boss so the wishbone bolt passes thru both bracket and FU.
Thanks in advance.

Really needs to be a locknut though, or have a locking device as well as visible thread
A halfnut and a split pin?

What about some threaded bar. Feed that through a half nut and weld it. Then put a nylon on the open end.
It’s all I can think of...

What about a thin castellated nut or slotted nut, then drill a hole through the bolt. You could then tighten exactly where you need it and pop a split
pin through to secure. Just a thought

Are you going to feel safe doing anything but moving the mounts, its suspension needs doing properly, IVA will pick it up anyway, so may as well do it
right now.

To save moving the suspension, why not move the uprights forward,
yes its work, but will always cause an issue if left this way
or at worst notch the upright, and add some bracing on the other side
steve
Thats was probably spelt wrong, or had some grammer, that the "grammer police have to have a moan at

Have a search for "k nuts"
They're more compact than standard nylocs, are self locking, and are ok for high stress applications.
Might fit in the space you have. Not cheap though.

It doesn't look like there's space to slide the bolt in from the other side.

1. Move the suspension brackets (I appreciate that might affect your suspension geometry) to gain space.
2. Move the vertical chassis tube to gain space (appreciate that might affect chassis finishing (paint/powder coating)).
Either way it looks to me as though you have to move something to gain some space!

I did wonder, in that case, I would make a pair of axles,. threaded at each end and plain shaft in the middle, these can then have a fully retained
nut at each end
seems to be the "least hassle" option to me,

If you remove the wishbone and bush could you weld an all metal lock-nut to the bracket (do it with a bolt through to hold the nut square and in
place)?
Would that give you enough visible threads on the bolt to satisfy yourself and for the IVA?

Space, the final frontier...
I had a similar problem, sorted out this morning with an insert. Tea break before it's tacked in place...

Thank you guys for all the inputs.
Ill try to have this done in the following order:
1)K-nuts
2)side welded nut
3)drill the vertical tube, weld a crushtube aligned to the wishbone mount.
I think those are the most suitable options I have at the moment, as just moved to France and I have no welder around.
Thank you for the help, and hopefully soon will ask for more with a pre-IVA post.
