Sierra Prop

Hello All,

Just thinking about prop and whether or not I can use the two piece from my Donor Sierra.

Is it a sensible/possible option to shorten this or would I be better off getting an escort one.

OR are there better alternatives?

I have a type 9 box to a 2.0 SOHC Pinto.

if you are competent you could probably do it yourself. however, if you are paying a company to do it the expense comes from the work and the guarantee, not really the materials. For this reason, its not much more expensive to use all new parts from scratch

For the type 9 use the rear of the Sierra prop and the front from a transit prop with no rubber doughnut. Separate it carefully and you can knock it into the rear and weld round it. It will probably only be just over a foot long.

For a new prop to suit type 9 to sierra diff what price are we talking?

And does anyone know any good midlands based suppliers, or can this sort of thing be specified over the phone?

Prices vary

Most do one for about £100. Don't sort one out till you have your engine and box in the car as the length will vary according to your mounting points

Pretty sure MK would do one for you if you measure the length required.

They converted my sierra prop in about 20 mins - good job too!

Why not U2U Snoopy for a price?

I'm going to go down this route, but using the front from a Hillman Avenger, we still get them in the wreckers out here. The guys who will do it, the local turbocharger gurus, said to wait till I had my diff & engine mounted & then bring them the bits with the measurement from the rear of the gearbox to the front of the diff flange. They would take it from there.Easy peasy really. Cheers, Steve
