Escort Rack Components

I'm refurbing my Escort (mk 2) steering rack, and the existing track control arm ballhousings & lock nuts are knackered - previous owner must have had it apart a few times as the retaining pin has been drilled, drilled & drilled again - so they are now full of holes!

I don't seem to be able to buy these from any motor factors, they will only supply a complete rack. Anyone got any skulking around in their garage that they don't need, or can you suggest a decent motor factor that will supply escort rack parts?

The local scrappies are no help, no Mk2 escort bits at all.

Cheers,
Rob.

You know i am having the same problem, but i am after a track rod.

I am now just going to get a reconditioned/remanufactured rack, more expense, but it seems the only way forward.

My dad spoke to a knowledgeable guy at our local motor factors and he said that people like quinton hazell have never produced those parts for the MK2 escort. And ford will not sell you the parts as the car is too old.

Exchange racks vary in price from £20 (http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/steering-rack-display.php?txtmodel=Escort&txtmake=Ford&Submit=Next) to £60+. £40 seems like the average price though.

Racks available

You lucky people, I have 2 Escort steering racks available. Condition as removed from donor, but gaiters etc all look OK. See my other for sale posting for details.
