Straight replacement bushes for standard Ron's?

Hi guys... looking at assembling up arms etc.... but... I have a doubt....

Can anyone tell me the life of the standard metalastic bushes assuming they were corectly fitted to start with....

Also, is there anyone who knows of a direct nylon type replacement and should i go that route now rather than later?

Cheers guys - off to work now - so sorry if this is a dumb early morning request...

Try MNR --- be aware standard bushes can mean either the Herald wishbone bushes or the Herald shockabsorber bush -- they are different sizes by about 3mm dia.

I always thought standard book bush meant the wishbone bush. For the fronts they will last the same as other components (ie don't worry about it) for the rear i've heard varying claims. Some people say a week others say years. I'm using them front and rear and i'll see what happens. If they dont' last then i'll make up new rear arms.

Superflex do a replacement top hat bush for the Herald.only snag is you will have to shorten the bush tubes on your wishbones....metalastic bushes are not that clever and great care has to be taken you don't pinch the tube on the wishbone......or they will bind..sounds obvious but it happens.

If you are making your own wishbones then a suggestion I would make is to give a company called Wisbech Engineering a call. They supply polybushes of one size only for special building at a VERY competitive price (i.e. much cheaper then most!)

The Herald bushes always looked pretty crap to me; the crush tube is very thin, and the rubber goes all the way to the ends of the crush tube.
Provided you don't need much in the way of movement outside a single plane* then I would go for nylon.

*Not convinced that hard nylon/poly bushes are a good idea on the rear trailing arms. It much exert a lot of force on the arms and brackets when one wheel is in bump.
