Engine Install
Thought I would see if my 1600 escort engine would fit my chassis made as per RC's book at the weekend! Slight problem with fuel pump fouling on
chassis. Anyone else had this? Do others use an electric pump?

Several people (me included) have blanked off the fuel pump, and are fitting electric.

you should find that the engine sits slightly off centre. the centre line of the front of the engine is a slightly to the left (looking from front on)
can t remember how much. With this you get enough clearance for the pump and I read somewhere it helps the prop as the offset helps with stress on the
uj's

Thanks for that, it's fouling on tube R. I was lining up the centre of the crankshaft pulley with the centre line of the chassis and then getting the
gearbox end central in the tunnel. Is this not correct? This might sound basic but how do tell if it's a xcross flow as I'm not really a Ford man.
All I know is that it's a MK11 1600 Escort engine which I pulled out of an abandoned Jago project!!!

Chris.. the engine crankshaft centre should be 19mm offset of centre line (RHS from front) and it should be 120mm from the base of the chassis.
A cross flow is easily identified.. is there an engine number starting 711M ?
711M-6015-A-A...... 1.1LITRE or 1.3
711M-6015-B-A...... 1.6LITRE
Hope this helps..
