Engine & Gearbox alignment

Crossflow engine & type 9 box - 1" of bellhouse below bottom rail.. choped sump...

Q: I'm mounting my engine level in the chassis so all my oil levels are correct. (spirt level on engine block - check against chassis rail)..

Is this Ok? Any comments ?

Cheers Jon

Yep thats what I did and i'm using the same engine and g'box as you, although my bellhousing ended up a lot more than 1" below the chassis, but I am using lowline bodywork.

...a bit of engine/b'box lateral parallel offset towards the passenger side also comes in handy if you want to use the engines mech fuel pump but watch out for the starter motor fouling the lower chassis rail.

Cheers
Gary

Cheers for that..

the book seems to show the back end of the gearbox realy low... i could see the oil coming out of the box lol...

Anyway... putting it in level ... extended the gear linkage by six inches... working out the handbrake position on the side of the tunnel now..

hopefully get some done this year
