how strong is gas pipe?
I was given a length of steel pipe, looks like its been drawn or is seamed its about 16-18mm diameter and 2mm wall thickness.
Its got a series of numbers stamped down the side of it (on a section i won't be using) and i'm told it's gas pipe.
I want to use it for my column downlink extension, anyone know if its man enough and up to the job?
ta,
Ned.

gas pipe is normally seamed pipe which is then drawn.
Personally I wouldn't use seamed pipe for a column downlink, though many probably would.
What size seamless do you need roughly, I should be able to post you a piece.
choice of either 21.43mm x 4.06mm or 17.46mm x 3.18mm

the closest to the size of the sierra original downlink that I've chopped in half so i can sleeve it and weld on a 45degree cut, think 17x3mm
sounds closest, need about 500mm length.
I'll u2u my address over, thanks Nat.
