Tall builder mods

Hi all
My first post on this group.
I am looking at building a lo-cost but being 6ft 8" tall I think I will need to lengthen the chasis foot well box. Does anyone know if this will cause any problem?
Feel free to drop me an email.

hi mark and welcome!

This sort of mod has been done before, and the beauty of the Locost is that you can do more or less what you like.

The standard chassis is ok up to about 6'4" you could add 4 inches to the longditudinal rails in the cockpit area without much difficulty.

someone who's actually done it will probably pop up soon!

Cheers

Chris

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

I've done mine longer and wider and if you're really gonna mess around with the chassis I'd recommend using some sort of CAD package.

If the only change is you wish to make it a little longer then as Chrisg has said you just need to make the rails in the body of the car a little longer.

Depending how much you add I guess it's gonna add to the chassis flex a little but I guess a couple of extra diagonals would sort that.

I don't know what engine you're planning but Jasper has extended the drivers footwell and shortened the passenger footwell a little and fitted his bike engine further back in the space where the passenger footwell was.

HTH,

James
