Ignition Coil

What sort of resistance should there be between the Primary and Secondary Coils, mine reads 1.9 Ohms; doesn't seem a lot. :

Resistance between + and- on coil should be about 3.4 ohms for a 12V coil and 1.9 for a coil to be used with a resistance wire or ballast resistor. IIRC most rover v-8 have a resistance wire for running and a link from a spare teminal on the starter solenoid to provide 12V while cranking.

Ignition Coil

Thanks Caber

Coil has label stating Ballast Resistor required, but mine doesn't seem to have one. 1.9 Ohm just didn't seem at lot.

This isn't for the V8 by the way, this is on the old Ford Xflow.

1.5 ohm for ballast
3 ohm for non ballast i.e. direct to 12 V.

On the old crossflow, the ballast resistor is built into the loom. Its a light grey or white resistance wire joined to the coil +ve lead.
