I've heard various versions, either 1.5"/37mm or 1.3/4"/44mm

the only reference to roll bar thickness/diameter in the sva manual is relating to recomended seat belt achorages. if you dont have one you just need
to mount the seat belt somewhere else.

Roll bar is not needed for SVA so no minimum diameter or thickness or material specification or colour or anything. If you fit one it will
be tested for edge radius compliance.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I thought it depended upon how it was fixed, ie if welded it becomes structural and as such has to suitable for the application. But if bolted its
cosmetic.

nope the same reason they dont need to measure the output on the flux capacitor, because you dont need one.
As pete says, the terminals on the flux thingy still need to be radiused.

As stated "no requirement", but if you bolt one on the SVA inspector will check that the bolts are at least 8mm dia, and that they are
marked 8.8 or better. Regards Ray

Atleast 11mm diameter!!!! Or 7/16ths.

James

yea, normal "safety" anchorage bolts are always based on 7/16" UNF (no idea why!)
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion
retro car restoration and tuning

And that's even standard in the rest of the world!
It's coming from UN-standard regulation
Now you know

James, I hate to say this, seeing as how I have now met you and feel you are a nice guy, . But you are wrong!!! it's the seat belt
anchorages that need to be 11mm/7/16" or better, the roll bar fixings need to be "at least 8mm x 8.8's" or better. Read the
SVA manual. Regards Ray.

No, I was right, it's just that we were talking about different things!
As you say, I misunderstood, and was talking about the seat belt bolts, not the rollbar to chassis bolts!
Sorry for the confusion!
Cheers,
James
