newbie's plans for the future
alright lads and lasses,
i have been after building one of these for a while and have eventually decided on the engine i want to use.
is a suzuki 1.3 16v G13B engine from a swift. they are all alloy and rev to 8k no probs. and is nice and small and light.
has this been done before, can anyone help me with dicussing the plans.
can i whack one of these engines into a locost chassis instead of the ford engine
cheers

If you do a search there are a few mentions of the swift engine...

Swiftmarty,
"lads and lasses"
You sound like another one from north of the great divide? Where are you from?
Don't know much about the swift but if you can find or make a gearbox adapter plate for a RWD gearbox then I don't see why not! Best of
luck mate!
Craig.

Looks like you could be onto a good basis if you also get a Suzuki carry van as discussed in the posts mentioned above.
Sounds interesting, keep us posted!

i have realised the suzuki sj413 gearbox is the one i need and apparently bolts straight on to the g13b.
dont know what the gear ratio difference will be but if its anything like the swift it will pull like hell!
i was gonna use my superb, well cared for 20xe in my gte 16v but cant bring myself to break the car.
its currently running courteney high torque cams and a grp N ecu.
nice!
is it common to keep the fuel injection systems?
i would like to for the simplke reason that cars run smoother on fuel injection than carbs, an d better cold running in winter and stuff.
OR i could put gsxr750 carbs and build them up as throttle bodies, as has been done to a swift!

Swift
There has been some discussion about the swift engines on the locost north america board also. Seems like it will work if you get the right parts.
