What could I do with...
An old residential oil drum, pretty much like this one, but rustier. Looks like it's pretty solid though, heavy gauge steel.
It's empty of course.

Cut the end off, turn it upright, fill it with compost and grow the best carrots in the western hemisphere. Ideal for keeping the carrot fly of

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

Lots of great ideas!
It's actually outside, and a BBQ was suggested by my wife (even though she doesn't want me to take it) A neighbor needs to get rid of it
within the week.
I'm surprised no one mentioned chopping it up and using the steel for all-purpose plate scrap.
Maybe a welding bench top? (what are welding bench tops made of usually?)

Locost Coffin
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

I actually saw an old race car that looked a lot like one of these drums! It flew by me going the opposite direction on a local country road.
I really want to make a welding table out of it! Cut up into pieces it wouldn't take up much space either... I'm trying to convince
myself it's a good idea to grab it. I think I might regret it if it disappears...

If you are going to go to the trouble of making a welding table, you want it to have a nicely flat top. Seems that tank is all curves?

I could make a 20 inch wide x 5 foot long table that is perfectly flat. The sides are flat, the top and bottom are curved.
Plus, I need welding practice so I could use the scrap to do all the basic beads and such.
I think SWMBO just OKed it as long as I chop it up and hide it ASAP, so I'm going to grab it as soon as I see my neighbor again!

Got it, chopped a big panel out of one side. It'll make a few nice tables and some planters or statuary for the garden.
I probably wouldn't do this again with a dirty old drum, but I'm glad I did this time. It was a mess inside and required lots of paper
towels and rubber gloves to clean it out.
