Zetec to MT75?

Hi All, after various advice about 2.0L sierra DOHC engines I've decided to ditch that and go for a 2.0L Zetec.
Anyone got experience of using this with an MT75 box, bolts look as though they'll line up, but what about starter, flywheel, spigot bush etc. Any help welcomed, also if anyone has a zetec up for grabs?
Cheers.
Pete.

The Mt75 as I see it

Lots of options and differant ways of matting them, none right or wrong if it does the job Imho

Spigot bearing=
Just walk into ford and ask for one for any Sierra (was told all types of sierra had the same part number ? ) Make sure you fit this with the little oil seal outwards .

Engine bolts=
The five around the engine mate to the gearbox but the ones in the sump dont. This is all anybody does and is just the way it is unless you spend Big money on a Race line cast sump.

Fly wheel=
The higher power zetec models, 2L and 1.8 130spec had the Mtx75 gearbox. The fly wheel is heavier than that of the 1.8 and 1.6 engines. But It uses a drive plate with a 1" 23 spline center .This means the standatd Zetec flywheel, drive plate and cover plate all bolt up to the Mt75 or type 9.
The 1.8 and 1.6 flywheels are lighter but the center plate wont match the input shaft of the gearbox. This means getting some bits from one clutch kit and some bits from an other. Third option, have your flywheel moddified to fit a standard pinto clutch.

Thrust bearing. What ever the above you will need a spacer of about 20mm on the Mt75 thrust bearing to take up the differance in depth from old flywheel to new.
Westfield do one for about £60 Not many other options on this one unless you turn your own up and glue it on.

Keep your starter from the Dohc as it bolts straight on. Alternator aswell if on a budget. Its a bit big but very easy to get up and running.

Extra tip keep the tin plate from between engine and box on the Dohc as you can use it with a few small mods.

What cars it going in ?
In a 7 you may need to alter the sump

Stops for breath any others questions

Thanks everyone, all sounds do-able. Its going into an MGB roadster, and, looking at the location of the oil filter I may need to do some work in that area, space is tight around the front left with the twin cam in, is there a remote available from anywhere for the zetec?

i have just fitted the zetec 1.8 clutch and flywheel from a mondeo to the mt75 and it fits fine and to get the centre bearing to take up the 20mm i welded on a spacer.
drove the car and all seems fine.

Thanks All,
Just taken delivery of a Black top 1.8 Zetec from a 35K Focus. Looks like there will be lots of ally dust created, a'la Zetec Cat, but should be worth it, looks a lot better fit than the twink.
MJLJ acquired, ZZR1100 carbs in the post..
Just got to finish some decorating before I get the toy cupboard (garage) keys back.
Cheers.
Pete.
