Haynes Roadster roll hoop vs. roll cage

Hi all,
I'm planning a Haynes Roadster build, which I hope to use both on road and track days. The Haynes book specifies a simple roll hoop, but I'd prefer more of a roll cage design, so here are a few questions I hope someone can help with, most are relevent to a LoCost too:

1) where can I buy a roll cage for the Haynes Roadster design?
2) is there such a thing as a 'road' cage i.e. not full motorsport racing certified but offering more protection than just the hoop?
3) if so is it significantly cheaper?
4) are there any chassis mods required for a cage?
5) does a cage affect the ability to carry a passenger?
6) can I easily swap between a hoop and a cage by unbolting one and bolting on the other?
7) are there any SVA issues with a cage (proximity to the occupants heads etc.)?

Also, if it's relevent, I'd only ever consider using a 5 or 6 point harness in this type of car to avoid submarining.

Excellent idea, you only get one head.

1. I'm sure MK Engineering will be able to sort you out with one (among others).
2. Yes - getting an MSA certified one will be harder
3. Yes (see 2.)
4. Might need some bosses welding on if you want removable side bars (think MNR do this), but otherwise I don't think so.
5. No, unless you get a petty bar (not required for trackdays, but useful if proper racing).
6. Always best to weld in a cage, but I'm sure it could be arranged if you really want to do that.
7. Many have passed with full cages, a company competent to make one will be able to advise - if they can't I'd avoid them on principle.

5-6 point belt's won't affect cage design. Not many people go to the extra effort/hassle and use 4 points for trackdays, but it's your choice. Think some 5/6 point harnesses treat the leg strap/s as optional.
