Postion of tubes G1/2? (Zetec)

Whilst the chassis is progressing nicely,

Would some one with a Zetec measure the postions of tubes G1/2 for me so i can get them welded in before dropping the chassis off the table?

I'm thinking about the clearance for the starter as i had to notch my x-flow chassis to get the engine low enough.

Best way is to put the engine up against the chassis and measure up that way. The last thing you want is to make a wrong measurement and find the engine doesn't fit

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

If your building a book chassis - you'll need to move the rail quite a bit from norm. I've modded my McSorley book chassis to get the Zetec in. Only the pass side rail needed attention as you say to clear the bellhousing starter bulge.

Cheers

If the cross flow already fits i'd have though the zetec would as well - the biggest bit will have to be the bell housing / starter and they are pretty much the same for both combinations.

(i'm assuming you have a solenoid starter for both cars - otherwise the solenoid could foul the chassis rail if you're incredibly unlucky)

I had a xflow 1300 then 1600 fitted with the single rail four speed box. The starter had a remote solenoid. These fitted the book chassis no problem.

To fit a Zetec/Type 9/DOHC starter. I had to remove one of the lower rails and reposition it. It WOULD NOT fit into the chassis otherwise.

There was a big difference between the different engines and boxes.

Also worth making the tranny tunnel so the type 9 box can sit as far back as possible.

Cheers

mine

measurements will depend upon engine position

OK I get the picture, it'll have to wait a week for me to collect all the bits from around the country!

Still I think i'll make the rollbar tomorrow.

Ah, sorry, i was assuming crossflow with type 9 in now. Not 4 speed.

To quote the kid in the local shop, "my bad".

(and boy does that phrase annoy me!)

Your bad not nessesary, as it does have a X-flow with a type 9. it still would be best to assemble and the position all the tubes.
