Finis database
I've looked for ages to find one online but failed dismally. Do let me know if you find one!!! I think they restrict access to Ford dealers
only.

If you dont do it to often most of the parts department guys would run a number through and tell you what it is.

Trouble is FINIS codes are manufacturing in origin rather than model based
The old 1960s Ford UK parts number system was model based it always began with the model the part first appeared onfor example 105E****

What im trying to do is identify potential vehicles to look at in the scrapper for a particular part. ie does the same injector get used on a Escort
and a mondeo for example.

For injectors Stan Weiss' injector table is helpful...

have a look on eBay for a Ford online parts thingy (can you tell I'm sitting here with a beer ) It's called Microcat, and it's
the software that the Ford dealer uses to look up your parts.
I got mine for £4, loaded it on a virtual drive, and it's just a click away when you need it. The only bit you have to watch for is that they
are time-limited; they only run for a month or two and then Ford sends the dealer the updated version. If you get an eBay copy, to run it you have
to change your system clock, start Microcat, then change the clock back (it only checks once when the program starts, after that you're fine.)
I wrote a little VB routine that changes the clock, starts the program then changes the clock back again, otherwise I tend to spend days back in
February, 2002!
Cheers
John
