Tube/Pipe Bending

Anybody know of anyone in Sheffield/Rotherham/Doncaster area that can put 2x 90 degree bends in 38.1mm (1.5" tube/pipe. I have tried both MK's & they haven't the correct former, I have a hydraulic bender but again not the correct former so all it does is kink it.

Alan,

As it's two separte pieces and quite thin, I'm assuming it not for a roll bar.

If so, then could you not buy some preformed bends from Milner Offroad or similar.

Try filling with sand after first capping one end with steel plate then blanking the other end with a lump of wood or something then heat and bend....use kids play sand though as less muck in it.

Cheers,

It is actually one piece (sorry for confusion) it's like a roll bar but not, it's for the rear of a chassis. It comes from the back of the chassis through the first 90 across the chassis & then back again, if that makes sense. Overall dimensions will end up at 13" x 33".

You mean the top rear most of this pic (supports the top of rear panel):

If so, find a friendly plumber and use 19mm 16swg

Only joking but I'm doing some work on a new K series version, it needs to be 38.1mm with 1.50mm walls which I have already got.

Or Swimmingpool Filter sand. Nice and fine. Also dry and sealed in a bag. £10 for 25kgs.

Just my 2d worth

If you want to travel a bit there are a couple in Matlock/Darley Dale area that build 4x4 chassis and will do one offs if they have the right size die fitted.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
