Material for Rollbar
What material is used for a proper roll bar so if i have a crash it's going to keep my head from getting squashed?
I'm interested in the strength of the metal and what i should ask for...if you see what i mean.

CDS (or T45 if you're feeling flush and want to save some weight.)

Cobra's a big and relatively heavy car so go for the larger tube diameter.

I'm glad you specified a "proper roll(over)bar"...
A lot of the hoops you see are just cosmetic and serve no function.
Ideally the bar should have a diagonal brace to stop the bar trapezing and rear stays to stop it collapsing fore and aft.
Also make sure that the bar is high enough so that a line from the top of the hoop to the point where the bonnet hits the ground is at least 50 mm
above your head.
The MSA Blue book details acceptable designs and material sizes and strength for rollover structures for various types of cars (for competition use).

It wants to be the front top chassis member as the bonnet will disappear if you roll

Yep they are stainless steel tubes and i have been told that they are purley cosmetic.
