Welding small angles
Whats the technique for welding the small angles on the chassis?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

yes there are a few tight ones to weld up.i made sure i had a tack both sides and then weld half each sides inturn but knowing i would end up with a
widder fillet.To me it was a case of making sure it was weleded rather than worry about having a widder fillet as it will not be seen most of the time
anyway.

I am a relative newb, so am happy to be corrected, but I believe you want to turn up the wire speed to ensure it gets into the corner.

Do you mean the welding of very tight corners ?
If you do.
It may help to do some of the follwing.
Ensure you have about 5mm of tip showing from the end of the torch shroud.
Ensure you have about 5mm of wire sticking out from the tip.
You will be able to gain further access if you take a spare shroud. Then crush it lightly in a vice to flatten it a little.
Remember not to crush it so much it touches the tip. 
Up the welding current a bit and use the vertical down method of welding if possible.
This method takes a little bit of practice to perfect but produces a very tidy weld. 
Very important. Make sure you are using the correct size tip for you wire. It'll wander about if you dont !!??

In a tight angle you can get away with more stick-length (ie protruding wire). Normally you can only use so much length before you lose the gas
shield. But a tight angle naturally keeps the shield better.......

It has been discussed on here before but I cant find it. I like the idea of making a gusset out of the same sized box section and welding that in
instead, easier to weld and maybe stronger too.
EDIT - found it, have a look at 907's sketch in his reply. If it is really tight angle you could make the gusset from 2"x1".
