Price of CDS tube

Just got a quote for CDS tube and lengths of 16swg 1" x 8' are £20 a pop, seems a bit steep?

Anyone else got rough prices, the ERW I've bought before is about 50p a foot!

Matt,

Big difference in CDS to ERW.

I ordered (early last year) approx 42 metres of 1" RHS ERW (I believe same as you want) and an 8'x4' sheet of cold rolled 16swg for about £120 ish from company called ISG Steel.

Current prices

CDS is expensive to buy in small quantities, current price in Bonnie Scotland is 1" £18.34
1 1/2" £24.36
1 1/4" £19.98
Steel sheet 3M x 1.5M x 6mm = £92.00
The price for the CDS is on quantities of 20 x 6.1M length +. It gets cheaper the more ya buy. The tensile strength however is far superior to ERW, which is why we use CDS.
Now if you want some Cool Aero tube for yer wishbones and have us Tig weld em let me know, we have a source
