Chassis floor

I having a problem finding a supplier that will sell me one sheet of steel I need for my floor.
Metal Mania on ebay will sell me a cut to size sheet for the floor £31 for 1mm and £61 for 2mm. I'm not going to pay £61 but is 1mm thick enough?
Thanks

Mike
PS if you live near Northants and have a bit lying around for £s let me know!

That's plenty, but it's very much a judgement call. Ask yourself how much protection against road debris you want? FWIW, I used ~0.5mm stainless!

I used 1.6 as per book.

If doing again I would use 1.2.

1mm should be fine

i used 1.2mm, by the time the car gets on the road it will be 1mm steel and .4mm rust, grinding dust and other assorted building rubbish

1mm is thicker than the floor of your tintop so is plenty to prevent bits of brick/branch coming through (Caterham/Westfield use 1.2mm ally IIRC).

But without all the cunning pressed ribs it will be rather less rigid and may 'boing' as you get in/out.

northants unfortunately.
I've got good prices for ally but for the haynes they recommend a steel welded floor rather than a riveted ali one.

Better to rivet/bond ali sheet than risk welding thin steel sheet to your chassis...imho.
