Powder coating in North East

New business just opened in Hartlepool specializing in powder coating, called in looking for some parts cleaning up / shot blasting and found them to have a very imperssive setup with all new tanks and ovens. They quoted me at £55 to powder coat my full chassis, and they will collect and drop it off at £10 each way. Was gonna paint it but it would have cost me that in paint!!! and saves many hours laborious painting. Great helpful bunch of lads as well. Contact details are:

Terry Iles
Overcoat Finishing Ltd
Unit K, Teesbay Retail Park
Brenda Road
Hartlepool

Seems too cheap to me!

I wouldn't have thought they could even cover costs at that price.

Go for it. Cheapness sounds to me like either of 2 things.
1 You work there or have dealings with the company
2 Theyre doing the work cheap with a view to using you as an example of they're work or hoping you bring them in more business.

Either way if the jobs a good'un and as long as you're happy with it end of story.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Absolute bargain. At that price its worth asking if they can shot blast first or add some sort of coating that will resist corrosion and add a great key to the powder coating. i seem to remember Angus who posts on here occasionally knows of a powder coater north of newcastle that uses a special marine grade coating.

Most chassis suppliers will charge you between 150 and 200 for coating a chassis so that new place may be loss leading to get their name known in the early days.

have a chat with them about durable automotive style finishing, they may have some good ideas. Nothing worse than the edges peeling and corrosion appearing. Id also recommend removing all sharp edges from your bits before getting them coated for this same reason (not sure what rad is considered minimum).
