New builder after advice!!!
I've just been reading the discussion regarding putting an IRS into a locost chassis, as I myself fancied going down this route.
However after reading the (quite lengthy!!) discussion i reckon I'm now going to plump for either the live axle or the De Dion, however I
don't know what the De Dion system is so I was hoping some of you more experienced guys out there cold give me some guidance!?!??
I've got the chassis ready, by the book of course!!, and am now ready to source myself a donor car. I was quite keen on a sierra due the the
reletive cheapness you can pick them up at auctions these days, but again reading the previous discussion has kind of put me off that idea because of
the problems I'd be likely to encounter (and the many head busting sesions no doubt!!) trying to modify my RC chasis to accept an IRS back
end.
Eagerly awaiting any advice so I can try to crack on a bit in my crimbo hols.
All the best
Chris

If you want to use Sierra running gear and de Dion then you could do a lot worse than to investigate the GTS tuning kit.
It requires some minor chassis mods but basically solves your problem.
See the de Dion section in this forum and check out www.gtstuning.co.uk too.

Hi,
I agree with Mackie. Check out my website for info on the de-dion suspension (http://www.craig.chamberlain.name)
I built my own de-dion axle based on an old MK Engineering design but if I was doing it again I would buy an axle from GTS Tuning as MK don't
sell it any more. De-dion is as simple as live axle but you don't need to find an old Escort or Cortina to get the axle from. It will also
perform 99% as well as IRS but with a much quicker build time and much less hassle.
I hope this helps,
Craig.

If darren at GTS had his dedion available 12 months ago, I would be using it now instead of the Capri axle I have now. Think of the weight saving,
especially the unsprung weight!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
