Afternoon all
I need to make up a 32mm alloy water pipe with a 10mm barb. As I don't have a tig and can barely weld steel anyway I wondered about alloy
brazing. I have seen the guy at Stoneleigh happily gluing alloy together with his torch and magic rods but wondered if anyone had tried it and what
the results were?
Can't see why brazing wouldn't work... I braised my sump together...admittedly steel..
Have you got the parts already as if not it maybe worth just buying one as there not expensive these days .

You can buy alloy pipes in lots of different lengths

Sorry totally misread your post you can get 200mm alloy pipes with a tee piece but I think that's the maximum length.
Just offer some beer tokens to someone with a Tig to do it properly. I've heard of good and bad results from Ali brazing.
I have a Tig but not in Manchester
I went to a local small business exhaust repair place, asked for them to stick a couple of bits of weld on either end as I needed a Barb.
He did it right there and then, took 30seconds and I gave him a fiver
Thanks for the replies
I have enough material to do it twice so I have ordered some brazing rods & flux. If it doesn't work I will take some more bits to a local
fabricators to have it welded.
Well I gave it a go and it came out pretty well.
I watched a couple of youtube clips to see if there was anything special to look out for. To be honest with the special flux and getting the 2 parts
nice and clean, it's pretty straight forward.
