Hi All

I'm thinking of a new build , this time from bare metal upwards. Ive seen quite a few chassis plans online but does anyone supply a chassis kit in stock steel ready cut form........... ready for jigging and welding?

Am i being lazy ????

Yeah your being lazy! It's really not that bad once you get going, just cut them as you go along, and your probably only talking £100 of material max!

If you take that one extra step you can say it's a scratch build.

It's worth the effort.

Only special tool you need is a decent hacksaw, faster than jig saws etc and more accurate, you can build the frame over a weekend, adding on the rest takes the time

ok so a serious question how do i guarantee a flat surface to build upon , whats the best v cheapest way of acheiving this

I used a thick sheet of mdf which makes for a great, cheap, and very flat surface...and easy to draw the guide lines onto. Have to make sure whatever's used is braced well underneath as when you get to the end the chassis is pretty heavy (I used metal bars but 2x4's would work too)
