Locost 11 body
sevaun - 25/6/08 at 08:54 AM

Hi
I'm contemplating converting my Sevenesque body to Elevenesque. Many years ago Ron Champion did a fibreglass body replica of a Lotus Eleven . Does anyone know if any other company currently does one?

Thanks
Sevaun

what's the lead time for that?

The Ron Champion bodyshell was taken to the States where CMC USA sold it. They have since ceased to exist, don't know what happened to the moulds.....

Thanks for the info everyone looks like GTS Tuning might be the answer - prices look pretty reasonable.

Just a small suggestion - do a search on here to get views on lead and delivery times before you order...

Might be worth doing a search on here for GTS Tuning before sending any money. Never dealt with them myself, but have followed threads on here about very slow delivery.

we'll see the server slow down as it ploughs through the posts then....

I guess by your responses that they have a poor record. Perhaps they spend more time adding to the extensive range on their website than actually producing things!
I'll certainly get a confirmed lead time before ordering.
Thanks for everyones advice.
Alternatively as I built virtually everything on the original Locost i could have a stab at building an Eleven body.

regards

Sevaun

The moulds are still in the UK. I was offered them at a bargain price a few years back but declined

Moulded off a Westfield 11 but with pick up points for a Champion "book" chassis

I think GTS must have bought them

Sorry but that GTS version is UGLY with a capital UG!! The Lotus and Westfield 11s are really pretty cars but something went horribly wrong with the GTS version......... or maybe it's just me!

PLUS VAT, remember

The CMC molds in the States supposedly are still around. Somebody on the LocostUSA site has them. Failing that, i've got a spare set of Lotus Eleven S1 front and rear sections, plus a Westy scuttle and doors for sale. Only downside is that i'm on the westcoast of Canada.

You might want to keep an eye on FleaBay, there were two Westy Eleven bonnets on there about two months ago.

Cheers,
Rod
