Kind of a stupid question
But Iīm trying to prepare for my Indy arrival, so I just wonder how many ali-rivets I need for the floorsections.
I donīt need the axact number, but take a guess

just as a very rough estimate, say floor section is 6ft long total and 4ft wide.

If your gonna put the floor in in 2 separate peices then you've got a total length of 32ft, so depending how close you're gonna put your rivets, at 1 inch sep thats 384 rivets!

Theres a thread a while ago on this, people seamed to vary between 300 and 500, I know it makes your arm hurt.

I used 100 off 4.8mm large-head rivets for the floor (as supplied).
They are about 75-80 mm apart.
I laid a double bead of Loctite 5221 onto the chassis members (used about half a cartridge).
You have to be fairly quick because the sealant starts to cure within the hour.
My (borrowed) Pop Rivet gun exploded with 3 to go!

PLEASE buy the very best rivet gun you can afford. I'm on my 4th!! You would think i would have bought a decent one after the 1st collapsed!!! AND don't do what i id and leave a finger inbetween the handles. When the rivet goes it crushes your finger and bloomin well hurts!!

Now you know why i'm called a donut!!

Also buy loads of decent 5mm drill bits and 4.8mm rivets. I bought and used nearly a whole box of 500 from screwfix direct.

One pull on the hair trigger and your rivet is done

I seem to have spent a lot of my locost money on tools, but it's been worth it, nothing worse that trying to do a job with the wrong tools.

I like the look of that rivetter!

I still have a load of rivets to pop and that is far more appealing than sweating and swearing with the hand tool.

but the expense is in the compressor, air lines, air lubricator, etc., etc.!

If you have a compressor though, just deduct the cost of a half-decent hand rivetter from this, and you'll see that it isn't a lot more.

I would have bought one if I'd had a compressor when I was rivetting - too late now...

I thought martin supplied a BIG bag of rivets with the kit nowadays,maybe i was dreaming again.

Anyhow,i just ordered a multi pack(box) rivet selection from screwfix.com (Ģ7.99 i think) and then got a pack of 500 most common size for around Ģ5.

Donut is right about the gun,i'm breaking in my third although my 1st was not a cheap one and that still broke

ok, when i got my kit (mid november) i got a bag of rivets that was just enough to do the floor (80mm spacings) and some smaller, i assume for panels

I can definitely reccomend an air riveter. It saves loads of time and effort, and there not that much more than a good quality hand gun. Have a look on Ebay, mine was less than Ģ30.
