Hi Guys,
Because i'm not really fond of the look of the weather gear available for the indy, I'm thinking of "having a go" at making it
myself....
I've looked at a lot of pictures of different style hoods and have taped up my own car to check a few different designs (tape from windscreen
over frame to back panel. I've discovered getting in and out is going to be interesting at least).
What i cannot yet work out is how the most forward of the rear bows is going to fold down. Based on a quick measurement, that bow needs to be a two
piece job, else its going to stick out the back with the hood down (i.e. the length of that bow needs to be bigger then the distance from its mounting
point to the rear bodywork.)
Does anyone have a picture of the bare froma so that i can have a look?
Thanks,
Sebastiaan
I don't have a picture of the MK Hood.
But as far as I recall the Caterham one uses a single hoop at the back, then there is a smaller hoop which is joined to the middle of the larger one
by hinges.
Forms sort of a Y shape when erected.

Hi Boszi,
Cool car, thanks for the pictures! Presumably, the soft top fabric is sanwidched in between the channel that goes on top of the screen and the ali
plate that is bolted to it?
Was this a DIY effort or profesionally made?
O, and does the main hoop come apart or does it fold down?
TA,
Sebastiaan
Hi Sebastiaan!
Yes, DIY. The main hoop does it backward. Here is a draw from the windscreen side.
