steering column

failed sva a couple of weeks ago and one of the things examiner mentioned was that the steering column had a bit of movement in it.now checked it out and it seems to be flex in the top dash 20mm round tubing.he hasnt failed me on it but there is flex.anyone come accross this?can i brace it?or am i over worrying?

id say brace it to the chassis if you are just running it through fibreglass atm? there is a very nifty steering column bearing that you can get for few notes , there is a link around somewhere recently posted by mr henderson, that you could make a braket up for and it would stiffen the colum up nicely? otherwise have you any pics of the current situation?

no pics at moment.there is a 20 mm tube that runs from one side to the other and there is 2 brackets which come down verticaly then a 90 deg bend which then goes to the square tubeing which runs along the top of the footwells.when i move steering wheel up/down i can see round tubing flexing?

yes i know what u meen mine flexes too but not been a problem been on the road for 3 years know
