what is the bulkhead strengthener olate?????????has anyone got any photos of one ..my chassis just has steel bulkheads what is the strengthener?????

mine doesent seem to have that piece on?????looks like ill have to be fabricating a piece to fit on is it 2mm plate and is it on the inside and outside?????

Hey zee since september 2003 the MK footplate mounting for the pedals has been strengthened using thicker gauge, so you may not see it as obvious as SB's.

i bought my chassis second hand so i think it was made before september 2003??????i think ill do what you have done and fix a thicker plate on the inside,dont fancy failing sva for that then having to strengthen it afterwards

i *highly* doubt they could fail you at sva for not having an extra little feature there, but it would still be a good idea to add one if you can

they checked my car to make sure it had a strengthened piece there ,and im sure iv read somewhere that they failed a car for not having it ,if you put it on the outside it will be easer for them to check

posted reply earlier but in the wrong part..skippad has a mk indy and they failed it because there was no strengthener plate they said the bulkhead was to flimsy?????

I've got the earlier chassis without the bulkhead strengthening,i've added a 3.5mm plate to the bulkhead eng bay side.

This seems to have done the trick,master cylinder is solid now.

I got a local engineer to bore out a hole in it for m/c poke through,then bolted the plate to the inside with M8's.
