thinking of retro fitting inboard suspension
mad-butcher - 22/5/09 at 09:39 AM

I'm seriously thinking of having a go, but in order to do it I need the assistance of a type R owner to provide a rough drawing and dimensions of the top rockers and any photos of the bare chassis showing mounting points for rockers and dampers and also length of connecting bar between lower wishbone and rocker

many thanks
tony

Would it be more effective to re-build onto an IndyR chasis?

As I understand it the rear suspension improvements are as important if not more than the front end.

Again my understanding is that the bodywork etc is the same so you should be able to re-use pretty much everything.

Obviously a more costly approach, but ultimately would give you what you're chasing I think.

Sounds like a good project. Do you hope to gain anything from it, or is it more for the fun of the project?

Are you sure the bones and chassis pickup points for the bones are the same on the normal and the rocker chassis?

Normally they would be different to make the best use of the progressive action of pushrod suspension.... I might be wrong.... but you never know :p

I think there would be a bit of planning etc to be done first. I don't think that Tony is planning to do it this afternoon (although I could be wrong - It's not that sunny over this way at the moment).

Retro fitting inboard suspension seems kinda pointless to me. Loads of work for very little/no benefit

Going out in 888's in the wet is better than going out in 'em in the dry!!!
