Master Cyclinder location on the indy
EasyJimbo - 14/7/09 at 12:15 PM

Hi Guys

Have any of you any advice or any pics of where you have placed your master cyclinder. The build manual for the MK says there are pre drill holes for this on or around the bulkhead I believe. Just wondered what others have done and whether you have any pics.
thanks
J

Should be fairly obvious, ie a big 1 1/2" hole in front of the pedals for the sierra m/c?

Apologies if I'm teaching the sucking of eggs but it might not be so obvious if you still have the servo on the master cylinder?

Anyway the hole is right infront of where the brake pedal would be. I think the main hole will be ther but might have to drill the bolt holes yourself (can't recall if they were there or not)

I had to drill the holes for the bolts to go through. If you are using a sierra MC then you will end up with holes that are not level (horizontal) with respect to the main hole for the MC.

Without actually going into the garage, I think the left hand bolt hole is level with the bottom edge of the main big hole. The other bolt hole is level with the top edge of the main hole.

You'll need to mark and drill the bolt holes yourself to suit whichever master cylinder you have (cast or steel). IIRC you need M8 nuts and bolts.

As above the mounting bolts are not level horizontally as shown here...

Hi Guys

can you tell me where I get the T peice from for the brake lines at the rear (any links), do I need any other bits for the brake pipes other than the pipe and T piece. Also int he pic above there is a rod coming out of the master cylinder to the brake pedal I havent got one of these where do you get them from and what are they called?
thanks

Did you get the deluxe kit from MK, if so there should be two T pieces in the kit, one with a switch

if not rally design sell them although I'm not sure on which threads. Link

If you have drums on the back, check that you have two short sections of brake pipe in your kit which go from the rear wheel cylinders to the flexi hoses as mine were missing from the kit. I've just installed my brake lines with rear drums and there were 8 sections of brake pipe in total

The rod coming out of the master cylinder is 6mm or 8mm threaded rod attached to a clevis. I went for 8mm and got my clevis from ebay Link
