Order to buy stuff
MikeFellows - 12/8/09 at 02:25 PM

OK guys I have my sierra parts and around £4.5k to get my next parts.

I could order my kit (Indy R, Rose Jointed Chassis, Full Roll Cage, Powder Coated)

or buy the Hayabusa Engine with the clocks loom etc.. and get it prepared dry sump etc..

My theory is that the engine isnt going to change but the Kit might improve if I wait.

How did you guys do it, did you have a the bits first then the kit or the kit and bits as and when?

I would like to have it ready for IVA in spring next year (in an ideal world)

Thanks

Mike

I ordered the deluxe kit then got my doner bits sorted like diff, drive shaft, brakes, steering etc then built to a rolling, steering chassis.
then i orded the engine, fuel tank, prop, fuel pipes etc, i just payed for bits as i needed them.
look at hellfires build site for tips

an engine sitting on the floor doesn't make much of a car

you have heaps to do before fitting the engine...heaps

As above.

Chassis then engine!

First you buy all the bits you don't use,

then at the last minute you buy all the bits you need.

That's what I did anyway.

Remember it will take some time to get the kit, I would clean up ect.. all the parts you can whilst you wait for that..

If you choose the engine package now (but you don't have to source it yet) you will be able to get the correct engine mounts exhaust ect from MK at the same time; mine where non standard and had to source/make my own.. and that makes it take more time..

As above there is plenty to do so get cracking!

no point spending a fortune on an engine for it to just sit there. leave the engine til you're ready to fit it, and start it
