Rose Jointed Chassis
MikeFellows - 20/9/09 at 09:01 PM

As per previous post I recieved my kit yesterday

I went for a full rose jointed chassis so the kit came with 20 rose joints that needed to be attached to the ends of all the wish bones and the bar that connects the suspension rocker thing to the front wishbones (as per standard kit).

I put the bolt through the standard chassis holes putting the bolt through the rose joint, however this means that the rose joint can slide along the bolt meaning that my whole front wish bone has the ability to move forward and backward.

Should I have got some spacer type things that go over the bolt to hold the rose joint in a single posistion?

Thanks

Mike

Did you get a plentifull supply of washers ? use these they will allow for further adjustments

I would need at least 50mm of washers on the wider sections, which seems a lot.

I will speak to MK tomorrow as they didnt give me a build manual which doesnt really help

Oh dear not another one!

When packing out rose joints I would use something like this too, LINKY

obviously the correct size and would combine these or similar with washers.

Just my view.

Cheers

misalignment spacers are the right way to do it as above^^

washers are acceptable i'm told (and hope ) as the misalignment spacers are v-expensive. especially when you need 36 of them...

MK should really have supplied something with the chassis i guess (especially if they've supplied all the rose joints)

best check with them really

Two misalignment washers per rose joint, one on either side of the joint to allow for it to swivel, then washers or spacers of the proper size to set the alignment.

Build manual ? You have two chances, slim and none, and slim's left town

^ considering how close the car is to the second locost book design, that can be used as a build manual

While out and about i picked up 3 boxes of M12 Washers to space them out

I have a great bargaining tool for my build manual though....

they gave me double the amount of rose joints, and funnily enough called me this morning to ask for them back

I hate to break it to you, but there is no build manual. Well, there is, but it's about 4 sides of A4, half of which is a list of crap to steal off the Sierra, and a feedback form
