This is how ive done mine with a seperate panel around the wishbones. Its only roughed out at the mo but now the suspension is fitted, i can trim it to size. Top tip, buy a nibbler!!!

Nice neat looking build Andrew! I think I'll copy you and split the side panel- means mistakes in cutting the w/bone holes will be cheaper!

How come you've used a chocolate upper ball joint tho?

Cheers,

James

Thanks, everything is just temporary at the moment those top joints will be getting changed. A bit of an after thought i had was to paint the panels then fit a thick either stainless or polished ally doubler around the holes with nice radiused edges rather than using that edging ruber stuff. Guess ive just got too much time on my hands tho

helfire i cant get on to your website when i click next it goes to another website.the picture of the side panel in that shot you show does it just stop at the front wishbones?????is the bottom edge folded at a right angle or are they radiused, realy could do with knowing so i can borrow a sheet of ally from work.

What discs are they and which calipers are you using? My balljoints always look like that, just WD them

Hey Hellfire, so do the mk side panels come as one solid sheet and u hav to cut out the manifold holes and wishbone holes?? Ur car is Funky as hell, was on ur website, top notch!

Hellfire - 6/4/04 at 11:34 AM

Jay,

they are supplied by MK, pre-cut just before the front wishbones. They do need tidying up a bit (at least we thought they did) The exhaust manifold hole on the nearside, has to be cut by yourself.

Joel and pete, the blue finish on the uprights is just paint with plenty of lacquer. I blasted them first then smoothed them all over. The discs are off a saab 900 T16 (black diamond) and the calipers are off an rx7, painted blue the same with home made mountings to the cortina hubs. Just going to post some pictures now ive finally got it rolling.
