FINALLY - On the road!
StevieB - 23/10/09 at 06:30 PM

Well, 3 1/2 years and god knows how much money (actually I do know but won't admit it...) I've just put my number plates on and been for my first drive on the roads.

Despite the rain, and the fact that I drove out of my street and onto York's north ringroad at 5pm (those living in York will know the frustration!), it was an awesome feeling to be complete at last.

I only did my DVLA inspection Monday and was expecting it to take forever to get my reg no. with the postal strike and all but it arrived Thursday morning, just in th nick of time before the royal mail went on strike (bunch of to$$ers, by the way and no sympathy from me!).

Big thanks to everyone who's answered my many questions on here and shared there ideas along the way.

Weirdly, while the car is finished, my to do list is as long as ever with improvements that I want to make - roll on the winter mods...

Yep - I got that one pegged on my last trackday at Elvington which was torrential.

I've done a couple of trackdays in the Indy as a shakedown during the SVA process. Proved to be time well spent as I've now got a quick rack fitted and plans for a twin m/c conversion to get better feel/balance on the brakes.

Well done that man- it's a grand feeling - isn't it?
Mine went on the road last Nov. and has been driven practically every week since.
You just have to fit the jobs list around taking it out for blats!
Enjoy.
Cheers, Pewe

Yep know it well, live in Knaresborough and work on Clifton Moor! Looking forward to seeing you buzzing about, so if you see a mad bloke waving from a blue skoda octavia vrs then don't worry it's only me

Nice work btw, did you use Leeds dvla? Although heard differing reports about them they were great with mine.

Cheers

Rich

StevieB - 23/10/09 at 09:15 PM

Yeah I used Leeds.

However, I used Paul Jepson to do my papaerwork for £35 - all I had to do was turn up where he told me, when he told me. Bargain.

With regard to the inspection at Rothwell, couldn't have been easier.

What does bug me though is why they can't do the built up inspection along with SVA (or IVA as it is now). I expected it to be bacause DVLA and VOSA are separate organisation, but the inspection office was on the VOSA site at Rothwell. Why not just put an inspection office at each IVA station (which there probably is anyway)

PS - where do you work on Clifton Moor?

Well done! I hope you enjoy it, the thread could really do with a cheesy picture of you and the car.

In fact are there any pictures of your finished car? Cant see any in your archive - all that work has got to be shown off mate!

Well done again

Nice one! Take it easy out there.

Nothing wierd about still having a list of jobs when it's "finished". Expect it to get longer not shorter.

I've never really gotten round to taking many photo's - will have to do that at some point soon (hopefully it will stop raining at some point over this weekend and I can get out for a decent drive rather than a pootle to my mates house during rush hour traffic).
