MK Indy Steering Rack
scootz - 28/12/09 at 07:13 PM

Sorry... another MK Q!

The rack on the car I sold on has approx 2.5 turns lock-to-lock. The chap who has it wants to fit a quicker rack... any suggestions on what works well on the Indy set-up (other than standard!)?

hi, i am prettry sure that is nearly the the quickest, for the sierra, as stock it is 4.25 turns, and a mk2 escort rack you can get 2.4 turns. but do not think you can go lower than that, with out modifactions.

i have to put up with 4.25, i am like a hamster when i need to catch the back end.lol

Kriss, where did you get your 2.4 rack from. I'm thinking of changing mine.

as its an MK you/he could part exchange his original one for a quick rack, that way he'll be guaranteed a fit

Hi

The trouble is that with the racks being shortened. There is a lot of confusion between the number of turns and the speed Ie actual ratio of input to output. Just because it has been shortened and now only turns 2.5 turns it dose not mean that the ratio has been altered. check carfully what you are actualy paying for.

Cheers Matt
