Getting to the point where i need to fabricate my engine mounts for my zetec.
Just wondering how far i can get away with my sump protruding below the chassis rails?
Any ideas chaps?

I my recent experiance of driving my Indy, I would say that you want the minimum amount of the sump below the chassis rails as you can sensibly get
away with.
My exhuast is the only thing below the chassis rail on my car ( by about 20 mm ) and it just scrapes on road humps, garage ramps, etc

Just spoke to Mk and they reckon i can go 2 inches below chassis rails.
Has any one else had clearance problems with their sump?
The last thing i want to do is rip up my expensive baffled and shortended sump and run the risk of droppin my oil!

In a BIRKIN we ran with a kent 4" was ok but you still have to be very careful at RAMPS and speed humps.
pos to put a sump bash plate to take the dings.
My sump is about an inch below the chassis (cut and shut Dunnel unit) and is 3.75" of the ground. No problems so far, but I don't ride over
the centre of speed humps (the broken type which you can get a wheel either side of). You can always set you ride a little higher for road use then if
you do a track day drop it down.
I also fitted the number plate low on some flimsy ali brackets which do the job but would bend if the plate hits something, that way you can judge if
the ride is too low without wacking the sump.
