After the long wait for the weather to clear up enough, I finally went out for my first real drive in the Indy today.
Apart from being bloody cold, I really enjoyed it and am very happy with my efforts.
I've been on track a couple of times pre-SVA. But they were more like shakedown tests and I spent more time fettling in the pits than I did on
track. I also drove to Scarborough and back a few months ago but the engine wasn't running right so again, it was more fettling and shaking
down.
Today was the first drive since everything (nearly) has been sorted and my wife could come along too. We drove from York up to Teesside and back,
taking in the Helmsley TT on the way. Geat driving considering the conditions - wet and cold with no grip whatsoever.
The only thing I noticed was a flat spot at about 6,500 revs. This is unfortunate as that's the revs at 60-70mph in top gear. If you put your
foot down all you get is a big heistation. A few hundred revs short of that and the car takes off. I think I need a little fine tuning of the carbs
(plenty oppoing and bancing from the exhaust on over-run too).
All in all, very happy
Now I'm eally going to be annoyed when I put her up for sale in a few weeks time (hard times are about to hit hard )
sounds like its running a touch weak
