How much work to change body colour?

Hi,

Hypothetical question (for now).

How much work is it to change the entire colour scheme of an Indy? i.e Take all the panels off (discard them), and fit new panels.

Is it a pain to drill out the rivets? (is there an easy technique to doing the job)?

What time scale would you put on the job?

Not an outright answer but how about a vinyl wrap ?

For sure it would be cheaper and definitely a lot less hassle ?

dont do vinyl.

i had it on my last bmw and i got it dont then damaged the bumper and couldnt get someone to do the bumper and bonnet in same colour for love nor money

Or stick a box on the back with lots of cheap glasses tinted with the colour of your choice, so anyone looking at it could see it in a different colour

I can't find any "Multi Coloured Gulf Design Tinted Glasses"

I'm not sure. But "I think" I prefer the gelcoat finish for the panels rather than paint.

That, and I also have a use for the spare panels that are removed (they would be recycled).

If you have to, i'd imagine painting and re-bodying would be about the same amount of work. But when drilling out rivets, imagine all the does rattling about in the tubes. Not cool

If the panels have been sikaflexed s well as riveted you will have the devil's own job removing them. I took a dented aluminium panel off with a friend and practically destroyed it in the process. If you can hear rivet ends rattling in your chassis you are not going fast enough, they don't make any sound unless you remove the chassis and stand it on end.

Spot of waxoil through the rivet holes stops any rattle and rust-proofs the tubes.
