Indy R Build parts?
-matt - 2/6/10 at 05:36 PM

Well i have decided i am going to build a R1 engined Indy R.

now due to limited space and funds im looking to buy the bits seperatly rather than in the big kit, and buy as i go.

obviously my first task is to buy a sierra and strip it down for all the donor parts.

then i will be looking at buying a big batch of parts from MK, and looking at getting all the parts for the suspention and steering done. (to keep me busy for a couple of months).

now i have a big list, but can anyone confirm if ive missed anything off it that will be needed:

R chassis
R push rods
R rockers
R needle roller bearings
R rose joints
R rose joint shocks
shocks/springs

ball joints
track rod ends
track rod and extensions
front wishbones
rear wishbones
rear uprights
steering column extension
bush set
nuts/bolts/inserts
mushroom inserts

and the following modified:

front hub and upright
steering rack
steering UJ

cheers,
matt

Think you'll find there's a big difference in price between buying a kit and buying it all seperately

If i was starting again I would buy the deluxe kit from kit then source everything else my self.

cheers for the advice.

im from gloucestershire.

as for buying the deluex kit, ive done my sums and there is not that much price difference, and TBH i really don't want all the body panels laying around where they might get damaged, i would rather leave them till i need them.

also i will probably order more than ive listed, that is just a rough list to make sure i haven't missed anything major.

also i like to take my time with things like this, and by the time ive painted and protected the chassis Etc i won't be far off 2 months. then i will have another load of cash to spend on another batch of parts
