Finally got my Indy lastnite, at 11pm! Looked fantastic so i didnt care. Bill Adair (mk's ni agent) is a nice guy, pity bout his time keepin tho. Wanna start building but one things puzzling me. Where do i start?? I didnt get a manual with it. Plus i hav to get the roll bar changed as it is only a hoop when i wanted the one with the 2 bars down the back
Good to hear you've got it, I have the manual in PDF form I can send you if you give me your email.
Basically start with the floor then move onto steering, suspension, drivetrain, brakes....etc.
Rich.
Jay,
IMO, I would start with running the brake lines first. Having no floor means you'll have good access.
After the brake lines maybe the fuel lines too?
Pretty sure you want to put the ali floor in nice and early- whilst it's easy to turn the chassis over!
HTH,
James
Paint it today, floor and running gear on tomorrow. Fuel, brakes, and engine in Saturday, day off Sunday. Monday after work wiring, Tuesday bodywork and seats. Job done. Have you booked the SVA yet?. Getting up to a rolling chassis really is the best first step so you can do the noises. Brrrrum brrrrum
If you nose about this forum you'll find plenty of folks who've their own websites, and their own build diaries - have a look and see how
they did it!
MK9R has a good one and there is my own site too.
nice one, good luck with the build
i bought mine as a rollin chassis
so thats where i started, put the engine in and then the brakes, but wished id done it the otherway round
engine tends to get in the way a bit

I think hellfire has the pdf posted on his site, well he did have....
Thanx alot fellaz, will be using hellfires site (and alisters ) for the diary. finished paintin the chassis up a nice hammerite silver, looks well. Still hav to get the bonnet with the bulge and the roll bar changed. Was talkin to the guy who got me it bout changing to a Hellfire style roll bar, and he said somethin about them being welded in. Is this true? would it b awkward to fit? Cheers

Jay,
My style of roll bar has two supports at the back. The chassis itself has a slight modification where 2 supports run up the back and the 2 roll-bar
supports then bolt into these for strength. If your chassis doesn't already have 2 supports at the back (I don't think standard
chassis' do - but I'm not sure) you may have to bolt or weld 2 on. Shouldn't be that much trouble. But a 'normal' roll bar
would be easier - and it would look a little less mike mine
Like Alistairs - our Roll Bar is also supported at the back with two stays welded to the lower brace on the chassis. This also affords the petrol bomb
in the back some protection!
If you're looking at Chroming the Roll Bar, make sure it's pretty much spotless before it goes, all flaws will appear magnified.
After it's Chromed - you will have to rivnut and bolt it on. Or you could weld it on and then rectify the damage with paint or something.
