I'm looking at fitting my front hubs shortly, Im aware I need to fit a extra locking nut for the mushrooms to pass IVA, but my mushrooms are offset (hole not drilled in the center) which way round should these be placed? pics would be great, cheers
Sorry off topic a bit but where did you get the offset ones from please?
They came with the part built car which I purchased second hand, Guessing they are not normally offset?
MK Ones are offset.

4 for me
you cant really say that any one of your illustrations is either correct or incorrect.
1. will give you more negative camber
2. will give you less negative camber
3. will give you less caster angle
4. will give you more camber angle
you need to position your mushroom to optimize your suspension geometry. .m.
3 for me, though mine's not on the road yet.
You cannot change the castor by offsetting the mushroom because the balljoint position will not change.
You alter the camber with the upper balljoint
You need to get maximum trail to get as much self centring out of the sierra knuckle as you can so position 3 is correct.
Number 4 if building the Haynes Roadster.
Adrian
I've just gone through all this with my modified wishbones and from my experience mushroom position makes sod all difference to self centreing.
On my Indy I needed to design in approx 7.5 degrees of castor to get it to self centre well.
Mine are now as diagram 1, but that is just so I can get the camber settings right on my redesigned wishbones.

might have known it wouldnt be that easy

If you're building an Indy, diagram No 4 is the correct position for the mushrooms.
Phil
As above no 4, camber is done by upper ball joint (but not very precisely as it can only be adjusted by a full rotation at a time)
tony
Yep i will second or third that no 4 is the setting
No 4 it is, thanking you
I think you are all missing a vital point here - it isn't a case of "number x is correct" as you have to view the whole set up -
individual cars, whilst all using the Sierra uprights have the same basic wishbone layout, the 'correct position' for the offset hole
position is determined by the overall view of the whole setup.
In the case of the Luego I'm building, the set up is such that even with a fully screwed in camber adjuster, the camber is still slightly tilted
out (positive) so, to refer to the very nice clear diagrams Dan has posted, mine need to be set up as for position 1 to gain more 'tilt'. -
Even then, it is difficult to get ANY of the desirable negative camber in.
The bottom line is to get it all set up properly with a professional.

The mushroom adapter for the MK should be fitted as diagram No 4 and is offset to provide maximum trail. The MK wishbones are designed so that the top
balljoint can be adjusted to achieve the desired camber and the castor is determined by the setback built into the wishbones and the wishbone mounting
brackets.
Phil
On a Indy you will want the top wish bone behind the bottom bone looking down so that makes it number 4 if thats the n/side

Checked mine today, they are No4 and not No 3 like I said earlier, must of had a brain fart moment.
