mondeo motor to type 9 gearbox

tryin to fit mondeo 2lt out of 93 reg to a type 9 box but av found it wont go on by aprox 20mm, primary shaft correct spline n shaft diameter but 2 long .
any ideas much needed,

Sounds like you have 2.8 type 9 or a transit box with a longer input shaft if this is the case you need a convertion plate which i have a spare for 35 quid.

thanks 4 info but i need 2 get motor back as far as poss as im less than 70kg wen wet. i was told d box was from a 1600?

If it is a 1600 box, then it sounds like you need to either get the input shaft lined up correctly (can be a right bugger and the distances are about right for this). If it's not, then you need to get the right gearbox.

Can you measure the length of the input shaft? If so, someone should be able to confirm what type of box it is.

also ensure that your clutch is lined up exactly, my box was about 20-30mm gap, re centred the clutch and all was solved

Check your spigot shaft bearing, you should replace this when changing the box

Is the end of the input shaft flush with the bellhousing face? If so its a clutch alignment problem.
