Lower LSD bolt too short?

I dropped in my LSD today, and discovered that the long bolt, which goes into the bottom hole, is too short! There's only three threads or so coming out on the other side of the diff mounting plate; not enough to put the nut on.

Does anyone know how I should solve this?????

Threaded bar and nylocs. Cheaper than long bolts.

True!

But personally would prefer a bolt that is only threaded at the end and the rest the correct diameter for the hole in the diff.

That threaded rod is quite soft and easy to bend not like a HT bolt.

But im a tart .................

Longer bolt did cross my mind. But considering the fact that I can't even seem to locate M12x75 in my region, to fasten my steeringrack, I don't even dare to think where to find a M12x230 or something!

And yes, the threaded rod seems too weak (after all; it is replacing a 8.8 bolt). It would be the easiest option though....

What size do you need? is M12*230 ok? A collegue of mine is into tractor pulling and regularly uses *long* bolts. I could get him to ask his supplier if you like.

btw. i'm fairly local to you. Work in Breda and live near Waalwijk. I thought i saw somewhere that you're in dordrecht?

You can also get high tensile (10.9 or 12.9) threaded rod from decent bolt factors.

The bolt supplier I use sells 8.8 which is what you will get the bolts in anyway. Once it's tightened up the stress is on the bracket, not the bolt so I can't see your problem.

A friend seems to have a 240 mm original bolt lying around (from a Scorpio), so I'll see if my problem is solved.
