I'm unsure as to whether to take up Danny's offer of cutting a hole in the bonnet of my Indy-R Hayabusa in order to allow the Pipercross
more air.
The car will be my 'pride and joy' and a fun diversion for a k.o.s. (knackered old sh*t) at weekends.
I'll be driving the car in Spain, mainly as a fun weekend toy, not as a serious track tool.
I'd be grateful for any advice and what it's based on.
What do you think?
My own thoughts are that I don't want to sacrifice the aesthetics of the car, unless there's a serious reason to do so. (power isn't a
consideration, as the engine develops 175bhp at the wheels). A Piprercross poking through the bonnet smacks of a street-rod to me. (not the look

Well if you dont want to cut a hole dont, your not worried about power so whats the point?
You also need a way to get the hot air out....
I think you will be fine without, and in my opinion will look better too no matter how neat your cutout is but this is down to personal preference! Surely If an mk bonnet you have a bonnet vent anyhow which normally is in direct line with your pipercross filter? Your car will be blistering quick dw
dont bother i cut a hole in my old bonnet and regretted it had t but a new one because i hated it so much!!
Yes more of the same don't do it ... There's not noticeable difference with it protruding through the bonnet . In fact I think it might get a more ram air effect uncut
Bob, don't do it. Air flow over the top will cause -ve pressure etc, and of course induction noise. If you can, try to sort some sort of airbox
for it, positive pressure and much reduced noise

I'm glad that the concensus accords with my thoughts.
It looks pokey enough without the protruding airbox, and I don't need the extra horses so decsion made.

Duct cold air to the filter by using some expandable extractor tube from the front of the nose
I have a modified standard airbox which works very well! No real induction noise and keeps a nice OEM look....
Sorry edit to add my airbox sits under the bonnet with no holes or protrusions etc

If you do decide you need to poke it through the bodywork, put a nice bonnet bulge on it It'll tidy it all up.
