Hi, since buying the my Mk I thought it was very hard to push in and out the garage and tonight I sort of found out why.
I jacked the back end of the car up and put it in first and the drivers side rear wheel does not turn? The hand brake is fully off. You can move it by
hand but its super stiff.
Any ideas

I had this recently after storing it away for a long time (best part of a year and in a damp garage) and some of the brakes had seized. The only way I could move it was by taking the brakes off which I now need to take a look at.
Well it's newly built and I purchased it about a month ago and it sits in the garage with the handbrake off. Are the handbrake cables genuine items or modified parts?
What's it like in neutral? What's your dif ,non LSD or LSD?
disks or drums?

It's in neutral, car has standard diff and disc brakes
Even if the handbrake lever is off and the cables are new etc, the pad/shoe can still seize to the disk/drum, try removing the wheel and hitting the calliper/drum with a hammer a few times. IF the brakes are defo no siezed the next place to check is the diff- Does the other wheel spin? and if so does the prop spin at the same time? If not then it is a diff problem as if the diff was working, the locked opposite wheel would cause any force to turn the prop.
Sierra rear calipers are very well known for siezing solid on the hand brake mech and also the sliders.
Sounds like it a binding brake, something easily solved as said.
As above, but the other thing to check (if you have rear disks) is the brake pad carrier. On mine the position of this is adjusted by washers.
Obviously you want it adjusted so that the disk is central. When I got mine it was stiff at the rear and I had a grating noise that I assumed was the
pads binding. Turned out that the carrier wasn't adjusted properly and was catching on the disk.
Just a thought.
The Sierra taper wheel bearings can be very stiff until they are bedded in
Handbrake was loose so it rules that out
I undone the Caliper but it was still stuck and I had to beat it off. Disc now turns freely so I think I have a seized Caliper? The piston still comes
out when you push the brake pedal but I can't seem to wind it back in?

The piston on the Sierra rear caliper needs to be twisted clockwise (IIRC) whilst pushing at the same time to enable it to be retracted. You can buy a
tool specifically for this purpose or you may find a G clamp and long-nosed pliers work. Alternatively, an angle grinder spanner will turn the piston
whilst you retract it by hand.

But why would it be staying locked on?
usually rust. once its free it should be fine.
You should be able to retract the piston by twisting and using hand pressure only. Could be the self adjuster mechanism that is faulty if the piston
isn't corroded

Today I jacked the car up to test the reverse and noticed the drivers side wheel is stuck again?
It's a new calliper now and has not been on the road. Is there a special way to bleed these calipers?
Or have I got a faulty one

Just drive it, it will probably sort itself. The front left wheel on my jeep doesnt turn when its in the air, with an open diff it doesnt take much
resistance at all to send all the drive to the free wheel.

I've just read that with a new caliper if you pump up with the handbrake first you knacker the caliper? If this is the case then this is my
problem

As has been said above I'd really try driving it a bit first before you start taking it apart/buying things don't set off for the South of France but give it a decent drive not just up and down your street, you'll know after a few miles or so if somethings really wrong
mine binds overnight but within 100yds or so has freed off, really must find out why one day.

Have you checked the pushrod on the brake pedal?
I had similar symptoms on a mates car and this turned
out to be the problem. The rod was to long and was
applying the brakes all the time.

Sounds normal . Driveit round the block then try jacking and spinning your wheels
New calliper on today and everything is fine until you pull the hand brake up and back down. Drivers side is proper jammed on until you wind the hand brake off and wiggle the cables.
