well got my new engine in and car back on road now and its a big difference, had a standard zzr 1100 engine before which are 150ish bhp standard, New
engine is still a zzr 1100 but has
Wiesco big bore kit with high compression piston 1109cc
Dave newman cams
1mm oversized valves
head gas flowed for fast road, polished, 3 cut seats etc
muzzys dry sump
dyno jet kit
sealed airbox
dont no what bhp it is yet havnt had it dyno'd, will have it done when weather gets better but its made a hugh difference
More power is always nice.. Not that we need it but a man can never have tooooo many horses..
thats right its all about the power lol, the car was to fast for me before but i couldnt help myself i must be going power crazy
I have this exact setup in my indy r but ive got a Simpson exhaust and piper cams. Mine made 167 HP at the crank so 20ish hp over standard This was done on a hub dyno so was very accurate. Ive seen people saying a engine this spec will make 180-190 bhp but those figures are way out unless you have it set up in the states lol. My indy r weighs 486kg with a 3.38 diff so the top speed isnt that high but i use it for track. The zzr engine is good but a bit long in the tooth now. The K7 busa engine is what im fitting next winter because they are so much quicker above 60mph. Where abouts are you based? Is yours a Indy r too?
Hi mate no mine is just an Indy. 170 bhp is what I was hoping for. I was wanting to go busa next but I'm gonna go with zx 14 next I think. Mine weighed 500kg with full tank of petrol. I'm also running a 3.38 diff now I was running 3.62 before. I'm based in Selby. What it's like compared to a standard busa one then. Busas are mint but very expensive and the dry sump kits are a fortune and busas upto 07 are only 175bhp. Think with our zzr engines is it depends who built the engine in how much power it makes and how well it's set up. Someone doing a poor job on headwork can loose you power or cam degree being set wrong etc. Nice to find someone with same car mate. Where you based
HP doesnt mean everything, the busa's were mainly standard and pulled easily on my car. My engine was built by holeshot too so built to a very
high standard. If you want more speed then you cant beat the bigger cc bike engines but i put the zzr in because there a budget engine. Bad thing is
you cant extract that much power from them either unless you go forced induction and then the reliability and cost is a issue. Busa engines seem a lot
but at the end of the day you get what you pay for......
Im from Kent mate so quite a fair old distance from you unfortunatly
My V box time 0-100 was 12.38 seconds and 0-60 in 4.92 With AO48's to give you a idea of your speed since your spec is very simlar to mine.
Do you do many track days? I go too quite a few so could meet up if you do
I did trackday it last year but I'm gonna do quite afew this year. The reason I put a zzr in was budget aswel.as for the tuned engine I bought the full bike with the tuned engine in and sold the rest of the bike in bits and got my money back and made a profit so my engine was free plus I made some money. I wouldn't of spent money tuning the zzr I'd of just bought a newer engine. I'd of thought the 0-100 time would have been faster but v boxes don't lie. And the figures on paper for cars are bullshit usually compared to real life times and figures. It also depends on your driving skills aswel I think. I'm happy with the speed of mine though I just want to learn how to drive it properly and get it setup perfect as I think that is the key to fast laps. Suspension etc setup perfect. Like you say it not all about bhp it's having a proper setup car
Yeh on the road a remapped hot hatch will keep up on a straight but on a track its a different story thats what there for. I have noticed not so much other cars but kitcars seem too be fudged with the figures on paper but its easier to do i suppose with the optional diffs etc. Best thing is to keep the reliability and you will have a lot of fun on track. I used to race single seaters in Europe and let me tell you its well worth going to some of the tracks over there
A single seater is my dream if I build another car that's what it would be. I no what you mean in a straight line a fast car would keep with us but we can go round corners twice as fast and that's where it counts. Also we can get away with late braking into the corners because the kitcars are so light and have mega brakes. I have hi spec billet ultralight 4pots on mine and good pads. I must admit I have never seen a kitcar getting beat at trackdays by anything other than a faster kitcar. I'm trying to find a quaife atb for mine at the moment to improve handling. I'm running the standard sierra LSD at the moment but I've been told a quiafe will make quite a difference. Do you have any experience with this
I dunno about that, some cars more capable than you think like the GTR, atoms, GT3, Sagaris, lotus etc. It depends on the car and driver remember. Yes ive got the ATB in mine. The standard Lsd is S**T in my opinion, ive the Hi spec calipers on mine at the moment which cant i fault but i want more of a less tacky make like wilwoods now. Just at the time i got all four calipers for around £200 from the show so i couldnt turn it down. Yeh the single seaters are amazing, id of kept it but not many places let you trackday and since i dont race it was pointless to keep it. Thats how i ended up with The Mk
I have just ordered a titan lsd with 4.4 diff (kamdiffs) ,its got carbon fibre discs in place of sintered to soften takeup. LSD expensive at 900stg. Going behind a duratec 270 with quaife 60g 6 speed ( clutchless up and down).
Good work xxxx hope you get your target bhp
