Bought it. Does anyone know this car
Not Anumber - 30/1/12 at 04:40 PM

I've just been lucky enough to buy a damaged repairable MK Indy. It nearly didnt happen because;

1. Other than a couple of Ebay pictures I had no way of knowing how extensive the damge was or even if it was practical to repair the space frame chassis and

2. I live right down in Southend and the MK was in Cleveland and I wouldnt have had a chance to get along to see it in the time available.

Thankfully Handy Andy (on the forum) lives only a couple of miles away from the seller and volunteered to go and have a look for me.

Suddenly the prospect of of having it checked over by someone like Andy who builds the (very similar) Haynes chassis made it seem within reach. He identified the areas that needed work and with the damage being quite limited it seems that cutting out and replacing rails was not only easier than trying to bend them back into shape but far stronger too.

Following Andy's advice the deal was done at the asking price. I'm now arranging to get it over to Hartlepool for Nathan at NTS to replace the front frame, another couple of chassis rails, the lower wishbones and shockers.

Does anyone know the car, who the previous owner was so i can get hold of some of the build history.

It's reg is E622WOL it's blue with a 2 litre Pinto and 5 speed box. Here if the link still works eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

Big thanks to HandyAndy for making this happen.

From memory I think the general consensus on here was that it stood to be a good deal if the repairs weren't too expensive.

Trawling through the forum I found the original builder Scoobyis2cool used to be a frequent contributor to the forum at one time.

So Ive now found some nice pictures of the car on his profile, know his first name is Pete and he lives in Sutton Coldfield. Unfortunately theres no email address and i doubt he will be dropping by the forum to pick up U2U messages. (''

Does anyone happen to remember him ? It would be great to make contact and find out more about the build.

A U2U might work if he has email notification switched on (and still has the same email address).

Stick "Scoobyis2cool" ino Google and you'll find that user name in use all over the place. including a photobucket account which could be interesting. not guaranteed to be him but worth a nosey. There's some hill climb forums as well which might be a good place to start.

That was excellent advice. He's not been on the hillclimb forum for some years but I found him using the same Scoobyis2cool name still as an Ebay seller.

He replied almost straight away to say he still has all the receipts, notes and photos from the build that he'd be happy to share. Spot on

I must do the same for my car. I made a note of the first owners address so I may drop him a line asking for the same info..
